Sont présentement divulguées des méthodes de détection de polypeptides citrullinés et/ou de peptides citrullinés. Des polypeptides citrullinés, tels que la vimentine citrullinée, le fibrinogène et la filaggrine, sont exprimés dans divers fluides corporels et/ou tissus d'individus atteints de maladies auto-immunes, par exemple le synovium de sujets atteints de polyarthrite rhumatoïde. Sont en outre divulguées des méthodes de diagnostic, de traitement, de sélection d'un individu pour le traitement et de surveillance du traitement de maladies auto-immunes, telles que la polyarthrite rhumatoïde ou l'hidradénite suppurée. Des kits destinés à être utilisés avec les méthodes présentement décrites sont également décrits.
