Abstract

Un apósito femenino, caracterizado por estar formado por un cilindro de algodón hidrófilo fuertemente comprimido, del tamaño o tamaños adecuados, para introducirlo totalmente en la vagina durante los periodos de flujo menstrual. Este cilindro presenta unido, cosido o adherido en una de sus bases, un hilo, cordel o cinta que se dejará saliente por el exterior de la vulva para facilitar la extracción del apósito una vez ya usado. Para facilitar su cómoda colocación el cilindro de algodón queda envuelto por una vaina tubular de papel, cartulina a otro material adecuado que lleva asimismo en el interior de esa vaina otro tubo un poco más largo que la vaina y que al apretar de él, el apósito se desliza para salir de su protección. Para asegurar su hidrofilia y esterilización al conjunto formado por el algodón y los tubos o cilindros, quedan encerrados o envueltos en papel adecuado, el cual los protege.
