Abstract

In a heat exchanger for a heating and/or air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle, two heat exchanger blocks are coupled to one another by a connecting piece. The two heat exchanger blocks consist essentially of identically constructed bundles of parallel tubes, and are arranged next to one another in such a way that these tubes are aligned approximately coaxially with one another. The ends facing one another of the tubes of the two heat exchanger blocks open into the connecting piece, while water boxes are provided on the averted free ends of the tubes. In order to reduce the pressure drop inside the connecting piece, and to prevent so-called "dead water", the connecting piece has passages which are separated from one another in a leakproof manner and are of approximately the same cross-section as the tubes. The individual tubes, aligned coaxially with one another, of the two heat exchanger blocks are connected to one another with the aid of these passages. The passages are constructed essentially rectilinearly and arranged approximately coaxially with the tubes.
