Abstract

Process and apparatus for the manufacture of a protective bellows for a transmission device, such as a hooke's joint or similar, by means of the injection blowing of a thermoplastic material into a moulding device. Firstly, the rough-moulded bellows and the tips of the bellows are injected during a primary stage into a first mould, then, in a second core mould (20) and chilled mould (60) which forms the ribs of the bellows and which provides at least one narrowed zone between the core mould and chilled mould at the junction of at least two adjacent ribs, the rough-moulding is blown rib by rib or by groups of ribs during a second stage, until the required form of the bellows is achieved. Application to the manufacture of universal joints for the motor-car industry and similar.
