EL PROCEDIMIENTO SE CARACTERIZA POR CUANTO SE PROCEDERA A DESPROPORCIONAR DIARILALCANOS QUE PRESENTAN TEMPERATURAS DE EBULLICION, COMPRENDIDAS ENTRE 260 Y 320GC, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR DE DESPROPORCIONAMIENTO Y A TEMPERATURAS COMPRENDIDAS ENTRE 20 Y 500GC, ELLO A PARTIR DE UNA FRACCION QUE CONTIENE PRICIPALMENTE TRIARILALCANOS CON TEMPERATURAS SUPERIORES A 350GC, PERO INFERIORES A 450GC; DONDE EL CATALIZADOR DE DESPROPORCIONAMIENTO SERA DE PREFERENCIA UN ACIDO DE LEWIS, TAL COMO CLORURO DE ALUMINIO, O UN ACIDO SOLIDO, TAL COMO ZEOLITA SINTETICA. EL DISOLVENTE OBTENIDO NO TIENE OLOR DESAGRADABLE Y PRESENTA UNA TASA DE DESARROLLO DE COLOR E INTENSIDAD DE COLOR EXCELENTES.
