Abstract

The process involves sepn. of the functions of heating the material by applicn. of the electro-magnetic field through electrodes (4a, 4b) connected to a HF generator (3), and applicn. of pressure to the thermoplastic material (1,2) through a dielectric element (8) between the electrodes. The electrodes and pressing element can be applied to one or both sides of the material. The advantage of one side application being that the radiation does not have to traverse the whole thickness of the material. Portable electrodes can be used and the radiation reduced in both near and distant areas.
