Abstract

Method of producing by stamping drawing effects on fabric comprising the steps of printing a sample on the fabric with a wet printing paste composed essentially of a polymerizable melamine-formaldehyde resin which upon polymerization immobilizes or fixes the fibrils of a saturated fabric; subjecting the fabric to heat without polymerizing the resin sufficiently to immobilize the surface fibers in order to dry the patterned fabric to a moisture content such that the paste does not materially adhere to the cylinders during the satin being peeled off and moving to other parts of the fabric. The cloth; frictionally satin the fabric between heated rotating pressure cylinders while dry and produce a single direction luster on all areas stamped or not on the surface of the fabric; heat the polished cloth and polymerize the resin thereby immobilizing the satin surface fibers of the patterned areas and then wash and dry the fabric to remove the luster from the non-patterned areas thereby obtaining a flexible patterned fabric of permanent drawing resulting from the contrastre between the satiny and non-satin areas.
