LA ETAPA (A) ES UN METODO S1 DE BROMACION SELECTIVA DE LA CADENA LATERAL DE SCT PARA OBTENER 2-CLORO-4-SULFODIBROMOTOLUENO (SCDBT) O 2-CLORO-4-SULFOBROMOTOLUENO (SCMBT), QUE CONSISTE EN PONER EN CONTACTO EL COMPUESTO DE PARTIDA CON BROMO EN CLOROFORMO O TRICLOROETANO E IRRADIAR LA MEZCLA CON LUZ PARA QUE SE DISOCIE LA MOLECULA DE BROMO. SEGUIDAMENTE, EN LA ETAPA (B), O METODO S2, SE HIDROLIZA EL PRODUCTO DE S1 A TEMPERATURA ELEVADA UNA VEZ QUE SE HA SEPARADO EL DISOLVENTE ORGANICO, PARA OBTENER EL CORRESPONDIENTE ALCOHOL (SCOL) O ALDEHIDO (SCAB).
