Abstract

The vertical alignment of the headlamp is controlled by an electric servo motor (11) driving in either direction. The actual headlamp setting is monitored by an out of contact variable impedance sensor (P2) whose signal output is compared with a programmed impedance sensor (P1) for automatic control of the adjusting motor. A third variable impedance (T) is provided by a manually adjusted control which is used to set the reference alignment when the headlamp is first installed, and which is reset in the workshop after maintenance work.
