Abstract
A gasket (22) is provided including tubular nipples (30) projecting outwardly from one side thereof for reception through mounting flange bores (14) of an article (10) of manufacture to which the gasket (22) is to be secured prior to the article (10) being shipped to an assembly point at which the article (10) is to be bolted to a support structure (16) therefor by mounting bolts (18) secured through the bores (14) and anchored relative to the mounting structure (16). The tubular nipples (30) include inner sleeves (32) whose ends corresponding to the outer ends of the nipples (30) are constructed of ductile materials and the sleeves (32) are at least frictionally retained within the nipples (30). After the nipples (30) are passed through the mounting bolt bores (14) in the associated article (10) of manufacture, the ductile ends of the inner sleeves (32) are swedged over those surface portions of the article (10) of manufacture disposed about the mounting bolt bores (14). The inner sleeves (32) function to limit compression of the gasket (22) by the associated bolts (18) and the article (10) of manufacture, when bolt mounted to the support structure (16) therefor, is mounted against vibration transmission between the article (10) of manufacture and the support structure (16).
