Abstract

The process consists in dyeing any type of fibre, either natural or synthetic, in such a manner that an indicator incorporated in the fibre in question is retained in the latter and also maintains its ability to change colour through the action of changes or variations in pH. The process is based on keeping the fibre immersed in a solution of indicator and certain additives for a specific period of time and at a suitable temperature, finally proceeding to washing the actual dyed fibre in an acid or basic medium, this latter stage achieving elimination of the poorly absorbed indicator. The fibres thus dyed may be used in the textile field and, in a preferred manner in the toy industry, in order, for example, to produce synthetic-fibre hairpieces for dolls.
