Abstract
Compositions that are biodegradable in the environment, and procedures for obtaining them, from lactides, which are appropriate for flexible films and other packaging applications instead of conventional plastics. The variation in the different proportions of L-lactide, D- lactide, meso D,L-lactide and racemic D,L-lactide, alone or in controlled polymerization mixtures, with or without a catalyst and/or with a plastifier in the form of an unreacted monomer, and the combination thereof with conventional plastics, provides products with different properties and degradation periods.
