Abstract
Improvements in the subject matter of principal patent no. 8603005 for: "Process for the preparation of an 11- bromoeburnamenin" The improvements made to patent no. 8603005 relate to the production of addition salts of 11-bromoeburnamenin, in particular its fumarate. The advantages of this in comparison with the 11-bromoeburnamenin base lie in the experimental finding that salts and more specifically the fumarate have greater solubility in water than the base, which offers better absorption by the body and more suitable bioavailability. The salts are obtained by reacting 11-bromoeburnamenin with an organic or inorganic acid in a polar solvent, such as ethanol or methanol, or in a halogenated solvent, such as chloroform or dichloromethane, at a temperature of between ambient temperature and the boiling point of the solvent. These compounds have application in the treatment of geriatric problems, on account of their vasodilatory and cerebral oxygenating properties.
