Abstract

Error rate measuring device. The error rate measuring device is a small-sized portable analyzer, which allows the evaluation and analysis of the data transmission links. It incorporates the telegraph interfaces (double polarity), V28, V35, V11 and G703. It works at speeds from 50 to 72,000 bps. Using standard test sequences and messages, it presents the number of messages transmitted, messages received, messages received with error and the number of erroneous bits or characters. Simultaneously, it indicates the condition of synchronization of the receiver, counting the number of synchronization losses and the number of carrier faults. Also presented, at working speeds of 9600 bps and higher, are the quality parameters defined in the recommendation G-821 of the C.C.I.T.T. At speeds of up to 19,200 bps, normally associated with the V-28 interface, an isochronous distortion and polarization measuring device is included, both in isochronous sequences and in arrhythmic messages. In transmission the measuring device makes it possible in arrhythmic messages to insert distortion (polarization or start-up) and speed error (< IMAGE >2.25%). The error rate measuring device, working on the V-28, V-35 and V-11 interfaces displays the state of the various circuits, allowing checking of the same by the operator and the measurement of the response times. When working on the V-28 interface, it is possible to transmit simultaneously through the principal channel and through the return channel. In reception, it is possible to select the return channel to take the average (RX C.RET).
