LA CONCENTRACION DE HEMOGLOBINA DE LAS CELULAS ROJAS DE SANGRE EMPAQUETADA SE MIDE MIDIENDO LA PROFUNDIDAD QUE SE SUMERGE LA BOYA EN LA CAPA DE CELULAS ROJAS, Y ENTONCES SE CALCULA LA CONCENTRACION DE HEMOGLOBINA. LA HEMOGLOBINA SE PUEDE MEDIR DE ESTA MANERA PORQUE VIRTUALMENTE EL UNICO COMPONENTE QUE CONTRIBUYE A LA DENSIDAD DE LAS CELULAS ROJAS ES LA HEMOGLOBINA. LA CONCENTRACION DE HEMOGLOBINA DE LA SANGRE ENTERA SE CALCULA MULTIPLICANDO LA CONCENTRACION MEDIA CORPUSCULAR DE HEMOGLOBINA DE LAS CELULAS DE SANGRE ROJA EMPAQUETADAS POR EL PORCENTAJE DE VOLUMEN DE CELULAS EMPAQUETADAS (HEMATOCRITO) DE LA SANGRE ENTERA.
