Abstract

Substitute for paper cord and the like, and process for obtaining it, which makes it possible to overcome the problem caused by the twisting from which the paper strips comprising the core which is then covered with strips of paper or polyolefins and the like to form the cord hitherto suffered. According to the process the substitute paper cord is obtained by folding the strip comprising the core upon itself as many times as considered convenient in a longitudinal direction according to the initial width of the tape and the intended thickness of the finished product, then proceeding to cover it and if desired printing it to give the finished paper cord substitute the appearance of cat's-tail, with special application in the manufacture of chair seats. The consecutive folding makes it possible to reduce the width and increase the thickness of the initial tape and obtain a substitute cord of a flat configuration producing an aesthetic improvement in the product.
