Abstract

A porous body (6) is introduced in a housing (2), having a lid (3), and a yarn (8) for the application of a medium is passed through the said porous body. The medium is fed to the preparator (1) through a pressure line (5). In order to introduce the yarn (8) the lid (3) of the housing (2) can be opened and the yarn (8) introduced through a slot in the body (6), which is facilitated by open yarn guides (13). Since only the amount of medium which is to be applied to the yarn (8) is conveyed, a return line for any excess medium is superfluous. As a result, contamination of parts of the machine needed to guide the yarn through the preparator (1) is avoided, and the design of the apparatus is simplified. <IMAGE>
