Abstract

This telephone equipment for direct point to point lines comprises the interconnection of two twin devices, configured as a terminal or as a transmitter and by means of their functional circuits, when they are at rest, permanent signals are exchanged, such as carrier tone, differing in frequency. These are between 300 and 3400 Hertz. When either of these devices is picked up off the hook, its signalling frequency changes to a second one, considered as a different call. A set detects the change in frequency, emitting an acoustic warning, and when picked up off the hook the sending of carriers is modified and suppressed. When both sets are hung up, the initial situation is restored and the free channel tone disappears, [and] the alarm during the situation of rest of the system is triggered almost instantaneously. Hanging up only one of the two sets triggers signals in each set, albeit different ones.
