EL CONTACTO SE LLEVA A CABO PREFERENTEMENTE BAJO UNAS CONDICIONES DE REACCION TALES QUE SE FORME UNA SAL, NO ADECUADA PARA FOMENTAR DE MANERA SIGNIFICATIVA REACCIONES DE TRIMERIZACION SI SE HACE REACCIONAR AL POLIETER HIDROXI-FUNCIONAL CON UN COMPUESTO DE ISOCIANATO. LA CANTIDAD DE ACIDO ES LA SUFICIENTE COMO PARA NEUTRALIZAR ESENCIALMENTE UN CATALIZAR BASICO RESIDUAL SIN QUE SEA NECESARIO LLEVAR A CABO PASOS ADICIONALES DE SEPARACION DE SOLIDOS ANTES DE LA UTILIZACION DEL POLIETER HIDROXI-FUNCIONAL EN DISTINTAS APLICACIONES TALES COMO LA PRODUCCION DE POLIURETANOS Y PRODUCTOS RELACIONADOS EN QUE PUEDE QUE NO SEA DESEABLE QUE SE PRODUZCA UNA MAYOR TRIMERIZACION.
