Abstract

The surface treatment uses a moving grinding band (5, 6) moved between two reels and with a band tensioner (39) to control the working effect. The rotating workpiece (30) is positioned onto the moving band by a position control. A microprocessor (50) controls the workpiece positioning as well as the band speed- and tension. Sensors monitor the band speed and the tension. With two sets of reels and two bands a continuous operation is possible even when changing one band. The relative reel diameters are monitored to regulate the reel drive speeds. ADVANTAGE - Improved throughput, minimum of dead time.
