Abstract
The machine for stretching out plastic has a self- propelled rolling chassis 1 which at its lower end incorporates the reel 5 for supplying the continuous plastic sheet with which the asparagus ridges are to be covered, incorporating at midlevel, a shaper 8 which gives said continuous sheet the profile which corresponds to the ridge, but with two lateral channels whose concavity faces upwards, via which said sheet continuously receives amounts of earth supplied by two lateral paddle wheels 9 whose bucket scoops 10 discharge onto individual transverse conveyor belts 11 which in turn discharge onto the aforesaid lateral channels of the plastic sheet, which channels are closed immediately afterwards with the collaboration of individual heat- welding equipment 12, being converted into closed tubular compartments where the earth is retained, constituting a ballast for fixing the plastic sheet to the ground. The complementary machine for lifting the plastic makes it possible, during gathering, momentarily to raise the plastic sheet in order to inspect the asparagus and to gather the asparagus that is ready, placing it back over the ridges in the initial protective position for the asparagus.
