UNA CADENA AMPLIFICADORA/DETECTORA AMPLIFICA LOGARITMICAMENTE UNA SEÑAL DE ENTRADA ASI COMO COMPENSA LOS RETARDOS GENERADOS POR RESTRICCIONES DE ANCHURA DE BANDA NECESARIAS. SE CONECTAN VARIOS AMPLIFICADORES EN SERIE Y SE AGRUPAN EN ETAPAS AMPLIFICADORAS Y CADA ETAPA TIENE AL MENOS UN AMPLIFICADOR. ENTRE CADA ETAPA AMPLIFICADORA HAY UN FILTRO QUE RESTRINGE LA ANCHURA DE BANDA DE SEÑALES A FRECUENCIAS EN UN MARGEN DE SEÑAL DESEADO. CUANDO UNA ETAPA AMPLIFICADORA INCLUYE MAS DE UN AMPLIFICADOR, UNA SUMADORA LOCAL SUMA LAS SALIDAS DETECTADAS POR DETECTORES ASOCIADOS CON CADA AMPLIFICADOR EN UNA ETAPA DETERMINADA. CUANDO UNA ETAPA AMPLIFICADORA INCLUYE SOLO UN UNICO DETECTOR ASOCIADO AL AMPLIFICADOR, LA SEÑAL DE SUMA LOCAL PARA LA ETAPA ES SIMPLEMENTE LA SALIDA DEL DETECTOR. NO SE NECESITA SUMA LOCAL.
