Abstract

The waters are captured at the river mouths, thus supplying population centres close to the river mouths, the waters being captured by means of a pipe and being conveyed towards enclosures or dams with sufficient storage capacity to meet demand peaks at times when consumption is high and for a 24-hour cycle. These enclosures or dams are formed by freshwater collection tanks which are immersed in the sea and whose capacity and characteristics depend on the number of inhabitants in the population centre and the standard rate of consumption per person per day. These containers immersed in the sea may either float or be submerged, advantageously being located at a port, if there should be one. The pipe providing access to the tank, the latter having the appropriate foundations, gains access to a flexible, elastic wall, the tank or container being made with plasticized, rubberized and impermeable canvas which is practically corrosion-proof in the aqueous medium, its walls being elastic.
