Abstract

The invention relates to a mechanism whose aim is to absorb the differences in length which may exist when use is made of a toothed belt or strap in a kinematic chain or, alternatively, to maintain a specific degree of tension in the strap. The assembly is composed of individual sheaves mounted on shafts riveted to the outer face of the bottom of a bell-shaped support piece, the strap passing between the shafts. The support piece has, on its free edge, saw teeth, in multiples of three, in which it is possible to accommodate three wedge-type lips of a stationary support. The bell-type support piece receives a riveted internal shaft which is clasped by a neck of the support and the latter, in turn, is clasped by a spring which is controlled on the outside by a small plate.
