UN SISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE ELECTRONICO PARA PROPORCIONAR UN RETARDO DE INYECCION VARIABLE PARA UN MOTOR DE IGNICION DE COMPRESION QUE TIENE UN VOLUMEN DE DESPLAZAMIENTO POR CILINDRO DE AL MENOS 5.5 LITROS COMPRENDE MECANISMOS DE SUMINISTRO DE COMBUSTIBLE INDIVIDUAL, TAL COMO UNA BOMBA DE COMBUSTIBLE QUE TIENEN UNA CAMARA DE BOMBEO DE COMBUSTIBLE DE DESPLAZAMIENTO CONSTANTE, Y UN INYECTOR DE COMBUSTIBLE PARA CADA CILINDRO CORRESPONDIENTE, Y TIENE UN GENERADOR DE SEÑAL DE RETARDO, TAL COMO UN CODIFICADOR OPTICO MULTIPISTA ACOPLADO A UN ARBOL DE LEVAS, PARA GENERAR UNA SEÑAL DE RETARDO Y UNA SEÑAL INDICADORA DE CILINDRO.
