A TRAVES DE LA CONDENSACION DE 4-ALCOXI-2(5H)-FURANONES CON BENZ-ALDEHIDO EN PRESENCIA DE HIDROXIDO DE LITIO SE GANA TREO-4-ALCOXI -5-(ARILHIDROXIMETIL)-2(5H)-FURANONES SIN IMPUREZAS DE ERITRO-ESTEROISOMEROS CORRESPONDIENTES. LA CONDENSACION ES REALIZADA PREFERIBLEMENTE EN ACETONITRILO ACUOSO, Y EL PRODUCTO SE PRECIPITA DE LA MEZCLA DE REACCION POR MEDIO DE LA ADICCION DE AGUA. LOS PRODUCTOS FABRICABLES DEL PROCEDIMIENTO, SEGUN LA INVENCION, SON ACTIVADORES FARMACEUTICOS CONOCIDOS POR SU EFECTO ANTIEPILEPTICO O BIEN ANTICONVULSIVO.
