TRANSFORMADORES DE MEDIDA DE TENSION ELECTRICA BASADOS EN ONDAS MECANICAS. SE COMPONEN DE UN EMISOR, UN RECEPTOR, UN CUERPO DIELECTRICO, UNA ESTRUCTURA DE ACOPLAMIENTO MECANICO Y UNA UNIDAD ELECTRONICA. EL EMISOR CONVIERTE LAS VARIACIONES DE TENSION EN ONDAS ELASTICAS, QUE, MEDIANTE LA ESTRUCTURA DE ACOPLAMIENTO, SE PROPAGAN A TRAVES DEL CUERPO DIELECTRICO HASTA EL RECEPTOR. ESTE RECEPTOR CONVIERTE LAS ONDAS MECANICAS EN SEÑALES ELECTRICAS, QUE SON POSTERIORMENTE AMPLIFICADAS POR LA UNIDAD ELECTRONICA. PARA GENERAR A PARTIR DE CAMPOS ELECTRICOS LAS ONDAS ELASTICAS, O PARA PRODUCIR A PARTIR DE ELLAS SEÑALES ELECTRICAS, SE UTILIZAN MATERIALES PIEZOELECTRICOS O ELECTROESTRICTIVOS.
