SU PRINCIPAL UTILIDAD SE BASA EN EL PODER INDUCTIVO QUE PRESENTA SOBRE LA SINTESIS DE CELULASAS POR EL HONGO TRICHODERMA REESEI, ESTAS CELULASAS PERMITIRIAN REDUCIR LA CELULOSA HASTA AZUCARES SOLUBLES. EN ESTE TRABAJO SE HA DESARROLLADO UN PROCEDIMIENTO CAPAZ DE OBTENER EL DISACARIDO "SOFOROSA" A PARTIR DE UN CALDO DE CULTIVO UTILIZANDO LA LEVADURA CANDIDA BOMBICOLA. LA MOLECULA DE SOFOROSA SE PUEDE AISLAR COMO INTERMEDIO METABOLICO EN LA PRODUCCION DE SOFOROLIPIDOS UTILIZANDO ESTA LEVADURA O COMO COMPUESTO DE DEGRADACION AL SER CONSUMIDOS LOS SOFOROLIPIDOS POR LA LEVADURA CANDIDA BOMBICOLA.
