Abstract

The couch comprises a bed side section (8) which is adjustable for height and lockable in intermediate positions at one or both sides of the bed. It lowers into a position allowing free access to the bed surface. A supporting and auxiliary hand grip (16,17) is mounted at one or both sides of the bed and is independent of the side section. The grip is inside the side section and mounted on the mattress-frame, on which its position is adjustable, in slots in lengthwise members. The grips can be P-shaped, with the upright portion secured to the member so that it cannot turn, or alternatively of L-shape and similarly mounted.
