Abstract

The method comprises polishing (and, if required, drilling, cutting and welding) of ophthalmic lenses, in partic., non-spherical lenses. A high-energy laser or electron beam is applied to the lens surface which is moved relative to the bean under CNC control. At the same time, the distance and/or the application duration and/or the application intensity and/or the application of the beam are locally adjustable dependent on the required material removal rate, so that only levelling and smoothing of the surface unevennesses (which have resulted from foregoing processing) take place.
