Abstract

The tilt and turn gear allows the window, or door, to open as normal or to tilt into a ventilation position. The amount of tilt is controlled by a control arm (20) hinged between the window and the support frame. A joint (39,34,35,38) is positioned at the shaped (36) end of the control arm to recess into a compact setting in the support frame when the window is closed. The joint is linked to a hinge bracket (25) hinged about a vertical axis (24) on a support bracket (23) at the side of the frame. The joint and hinge are shaped to swing the window away from the frame during opening.
