EL PASO DE REDUCCION CONSISTE EN ALIMENTAR UN MEDIO ALCALINO EN EL DEPURADOR Y HACER FLUIR EL GAS QUE CONTIENE OZONO SEGUN UNA RELACION A CONTRACORRIENTE CON EL MEDIO ALCALINO PRESENTE EN EL DEPURADOR PARA QUE SE ESTABLEZCA UN CONTACTO INTIMO ENTRE EL GAS QUE CONTIENE OZONO Y EL MEDIO ALCALINO, CONVIRTIENDO ASI EL GAS QUE CONTIENE OZONO EN UN GAS SUSTANCIALMENTE SIN OZONO. EL MEDIO ALCALINO PUEDE CONTENER UNO DE LOS SIGUIENTES: UNA SOLUCION DE HIDROXIDO SODICO; LICOR BLANCO; UN FILTRADO DE LA ETAPA DE POSTOXIGENO; UN LICOR NEGRO DEBIL; O FILTRADO DE UNA ETAPA DE EO DEL EQUIPO DE BLANQUEAMIENTO DE PASTA. EL METODO CONSISTE ADEMAS EN DESCARGAR POR SEPARADO DEL GAS QUE CONTIENE OZONO Y EL MEDIO ALCALINO DEL DEPURADOR.
