Abstract

The mount, for interconnection between a vibrating body and a base for damping vibrations therebetween, is of the type having two load bearing chambers. It comprises a cylindrical inner metal member 12 connected to the base, an elastomeric body 14 around the inner metal member, and a support member 16 connected to the vibrating body and the elastomeric body. The elastomeric body defines two load bearing chambers 18,20, containing an incompressible damping fluid, and communicating by an inertia track passage 24. At least one of the load bearing chambers has means to reduce the volume stiffness, e.g. a flexible diaphragm 32 with an opening 36 for application of vacuum or a pressurized fluid to the diaphragm. In one embodiment (figs 7-12, not shown), one or more decouplers (40) are provided to block the flow of fluid and include upper and lower divider plates (42, 44) and a floating partition plate (46).
