LOS PAQUETES DE DATOS SE CONMUTAN INICIALMENTE EN PAQUETES A TRAVES DE UNA RED DE FORMACION DE PAQUETES A UN SEGUNDO CONMUTADOR. CUANDO SE RECIBE UNA SEÑAL DE CONTROL CORRESPONDIENTE, SE REALIZA UNA CONEXION POR LINEA DEL PRIMER AL SEGUNDO CONMUTADOR, TRANSMITIENDOSE ENTONCES LOS DATOS A TRAVES DE DICHA LINEA. COMO OPCION, PUEDE EFECTUARSE OTRO CAMBIO EN LA TRANSMISION POR CONMUTACION DE PAQUETES. LA INVENCION PERMITE LA TRANSMISION DE DATOS RELACIONADOS CON LOS COSTES, DE FORMA FLEXIBLE Y DINAMICA, POR CONMUTACION DE LINEA O PAQUETES ENTRE NODOS DE LA RED DE TELECOMUNICACIONES, Y CREA LAS CONDICIONES PARA UNA TRANSMISION ECONOMICA DE DATOS CON CARACTERISTICAS EN TIEMPO REAL.
