SE PRESENTA UNA NUEVA TECNICA PARA LA DETERMINACION DEL EFECTO DE ENMASCARAMIENTO DE UNA SEÑAL DE AUDIO QUE SE EMPLEA PARA SUMINISTRAR UNA COMPRESION TRANSPARENTE EN UNA SEÑAL DE AUDIO A VELOCIDAD DE BITS GRATAMENTE REDUCIDAS. LA NUEVA TECNICA EMPLEA LOS RESULTADOS DE LAS RECIENTES INVESTIGACIONES DE LA PSICOFISICA DEL ENMASCARAMIENTO DEL RUIDO EN EL SISTEMA AUDITIVO HUMANO. LAS INVESTIGACIONES SUGIEREN QUE EL ENMASCARAMIENTO DEL RUIDO ES UNA FUNCION DE LA FLUCTUACION EN LA SONORIDAD SEGUN ES PERCIBIDA POR EL CEREBRO. SE EMPLEAN MEDICIONES DE LA FLUCTUACION DE LA SONORIDAD PARA FORMAR UMBRALES DE ENMASCARAMIENTO DEL RUIDO PARA SU USO EN LA COMPRESION DE SEÑALES DE AUDIO.
