Abstract
LA PRESENTE INVENCION SE REFIERE A MATERIALES DE ESPUMA POLIMERICOS, COMPRIMIBLES, UTILES COMO MATERIALES DE AISLAMIENTO. DICHAS ESPUMAS POLIMERICAS SE PREPARAN MEDIANTE POLIMERIZACION DE DETERMINADAS EMULSIONES DE AGUA EN ACEITE, CON UNA RELACION RELATIVAMENTE ELEVADA DE LA FASE ACUOSA A LA FASE OLEOSA, CONOCIDAS NORMALMENTE COMO "HIPES". LOS MATERIALES DE ESPUMA POLIMERICOS COMPRENDEN UNA ESTRUCTURA DE ESPUMA POLIMERICA NO IONICA, FLEXIBLE O SEMIFLEXIBLE, GENERALMENTE HIDROFOBA, CON CELULAS ABIERTAS INTERCONECTADAS. DICHAS ESTRUCTURAS DE ESPUMA TIENEN (A) UN AREA SUPERFICIAL ESPECIFICA POR VOLUMEN DE ESPUMA, DE AL MENOS APROX. 0,01 M SUP,2}/CC; (B) UNA DENSIDAD EN ESTADO EXPANDIDO INFERIOR A APROX. 0,05 G/CC; Y (C) UNA RELACION ENTRE ESPESOR EN ESTADO EXPANDIDO Y COMPRIMIDO DE AL MENOS APROX. 3:1; CUANDO DICHA ESPUMA SE COMPRIME HASTA UN 33 % DE SU ESPESOR ORIGINAL EN ESTADO EXPANDIDO Y, POSTERIORMENTE, SE MANTIENE SIN CONTRACCION ARTIFICIAL SOBRE SU SUPERFICIE, DICHA ESPUMA SE REEXPANDEHASTA NO MAS DEL 50 % DE SU ESPESOR, TRAS 21 DIAS A TEMPERATURA AMBIENTE (22 (GRADOS) C). EN UNA REALIZACION PREFERIDA DE LA INVENCION, LAS ESPUMAS DE LA PRESENTE INVENCION, CUANDO SE CALIENTAN HASTA SU TEMPERATURA DE TRANSICION VITREA (T SUB,G}) O HASTA UNA TEMPERATURA SUPERIOR, SE REEXPANDEN HASTA EL 90 % DE SU GROSOR ORIGINAL, EN APROX. UN DIA O MENOS. LA INVENCION SE REFIERE ASIMISMO A UN PROCEDIMIENTO DE OBTENCION DEL MATERIAL DE ESPUMA POLIMERICA COMPRIMIBLE, QUE CONSISTE EN POLIMERIZAR UNA EMULSION DE AGUA EN ACEITE, CON UNA RELACION DE VOLUMEN A PESO ENTRE LA FASE ACUOSA Y LA FASE OLEOSA COMPRENDIDA ENTRE 20:1 Y 250:1.THE PRESENT INVENTION REFERS TO COMPRESSIBLE, POLYMERIC FOAM MATERIALS USEFUL AS INSULATION MATERIALS. SUCH POLYMERIC FOAMS ARE PREPARED THROUGH POLYMERIZATION OF CERTAIN EMULSIONS OF WATER IN OIL, WITH A RELATIVELY HIGH RELATION FROM THE AQUEOUS PHASE TO THE OILY PHASE, NORMALLY KNOWN AS "HIPES". POLYMERIC FOAM MATERIALS INCLUDE A NON-IONIC, FLEXIBLE OR SEMIFLEXIBLE, GENERALLY HYDROPHOBA FOAM STRUCTURE, WITH INTERCONNECTED OPEN CELLS. SUCH FOAM STRUCTURES HAVE (A) A SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA BY FOAM VOLUME, AT LEAST APPROX. 0.01 M SUP, 2} / CC; (B) A DENSITY IN EXPANDED STATE LESS THAN APPROX. 0.05 G / CC; AND (C) A RELATION BETWEEN THICKNESS IN EXPANDED AND COMPRESSED STATE OF AT LEAST APPROX. 3: 1; WHEN SUCH FOAM IS COMPRESSED UP TO 33% OF ITS ORIGINAL THICKNESS IN EXPANDED STATE AND, SUBSEQUENTLY, REMAINS WITHOUT ARTIFICIAL CONTRACTION ON ITS SURFACE, SUCH FOAM IS RE-EXPANDED UP TO NO MORE THAN 50% OF ITS THICKNESS (22 DAYS TO TEMPERATURE). (DEGREES) C). IN A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION, THE FOAMS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION, WHEN HEATED UP TO THEIR GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE (T SUB, G}) OR UP TO A HIGHER TEMPERATURE, ARE REEXPANDED UP TO 90% OF THEIR ORIGINAL THICKNESS, IN APPROX. . A DAY OR LESS. THE INVENTION FURTHER REFERS TO A PROCESS FOR OBTAINING COMPRIMIBLE POLYMERIC FOAM MATERIAL, WHICH CONSISTS OF POLYMERIZING A WATER EMULSION IN OIL, WITH A RELATION OF VOLUME TO WEIGHT BETWEEN THE AQUEOUS PHASE AND THE OLEOSE PHASE 20: :one.
