Abstract

Un procedimiento para tratar tabaco que comprende una serie de etapas: (1) someter el tabaco dentro de una cámara a una presión reducida de no más de 70 milibares (7 kPa); (2) impregnar la estructura celular del tabaco con vapor de isopentano a una temperatura en el intervalo de 70º C a 90º C y mantener el tabaco en contacto con el vapor de isopentano a una presión de al menos 4 bares (400 kPa) durante un tiempo de hasta 30 minutos para causar la impregnación del tabaco; (3) separar el exceso de vapor de isopentano del tabaco impregnado sometiendo a vacío la cámara, efectuando el cambio de presión adiabáticamente; (4) poner en contacto el tabaco impregnado con vapor de agua para expandir el tabaco; y (5) someter el tabaco expandido a un procedimiento de reordenación.
