Abstract
At least one butterfly valve (1,42) has a section (5) which consists of at least two materials of different expansion coefficients. The materials lie flat against each other and are joined together so that a change of temperature causes the composite valve to deform. The section is constructed from two metal elements (6,7) which are joined by welding. The bimetal section is near the pivot axis (19,46) so that the stressed planes extend through the connection face of the metal elements in a radial and axial direction with respect to the pivot axis.
