Abstract
The present invention consists of a modification of the usual speedometer equipment for particle images (Particle Image Velocimetry or PIV). This modification is a novel procedure for extracting information from the field of displacements from particle images. The problem that solves this new procedure is the obtaining of spatial resolutions smaller than the interrogation window in PIV by correlation (observable effect in Figure 3, series 4, - interrogation windows of 64 pixels-). The new procedure can be applied to any IVP team by numerical correlation. Consequently, its possibility of application covers all fields in which the usual PIV is used (such as aeronautics, naval, environment, civil and mechanical engineering, chemical industry, etc.)
