Abstract

Procedimiento protésico para pacientes periodontales y mascara gingival resultante de la aplicación del procedimiento. Consiste en utilizar una máscara gingival (5) a base, de una resina blanda, fijable indistintamente al maxilar superior (I) y/o al maxilar inferior de un paciente con una reabsorción alvealar muy pronunciada, rellenando el espacio vacío generado por dicha reabsorción alveolar y estableciendo continuidad entre el cuello de las piezas dentales (2) y la encía remanente (I), lo que supone una sustancial mejora en el aspecto estético de la boca del paciente, a la vez que las piezas dentales (2) quedan protegidas perdiendo sensibilidad al frío y al calor y se evita la acumulación de alimentos en zona de troneras, muy abiertas por efecto de la reabsorción alveolar, además de servir como portamedicamentos.
