Abstract
The analog audio signal is converted into a high resolution bit flow. The audio signal (UIn) is converted over several, parallel paths (1,2) with different amplitude sensitivity into a data flow each. Then a conversion caused faults (offset, gain error, noise) are compensated and one of both data flows is used as a bit flow for further processing. The data flow selection for further bit flow processing pref. depends on the amplitude of the audio signal. Typically each path contains three series-connected stages (21,28,66; 11-13). In both first stages (21,11) the conversion of the audio signal into a bit flow takes place, while the fault compensation is carried out in each following stage (28,66;12,13).
