Abstract

El procedimiento de purificación de aceite de cedro para esmeraldas se destina a la obtención de un producto purificado no sólo es apto para su aplicación en gemología, sino también en óptica u otros, consistiendo en someter el aceite de cedro crudo a una operación de destilación en corriente de vapor mediante la que se emulsiona el producto por agitación, se calienta a temperatura próxima a la ebullición y se arrastra mediante inyección de vapor recalentado hasta colectores de destilado donde se separan el aceite y el agua; una operación de percolación por carbón activado, para eliminación del color del aceite, haciéndolo pasar por una columna de carbón activado a velocidad controlada predeterminada; y una destilación a presión muy baja, para reducir el punto de ebullición y cualquier posible aumento de coloración, en condiciones inertes, y con eliminación de cualquier traza de agua incorporada en las fases anteriores.
