Abstract

A printing doctor blade is provided with a hard material coating by the PVD (physical vapor deposition) or PACVD (plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition) process. Independent claims are also included for (i) a doctor blade with a steel body which has been hardened and tempered at below 300 degrees C, the beveled surface and/or its adjacent side face being provided with a hard material layer by PVD or PACVD; and (ii) a doctor blade with a mainly polymeric body having a beveled surface and/or adjacent side face provided with a hard material layer by PVD.
