Abstract

La invención se refiere a una solución o dispersión acuosa con alto contenido de Shellac. La solución o dispersión acuosa de shellac se caracteriza porque tiene un valor de pH de 2 a 4,2, y contiene: 1 a 60 % en peso de shellac; 0,1 a 3% en peso de al menos un formador de película soluble en agua; 0,1 a 1% en peso de al menos un formador de gel resistente al ácido; y el resto de agua hasta el total de 100% en peso. De acuerdo con la invención la solución se produce mediante el siguiente procedimiento: se añade shellac que tiene forma de partículas a una solución acuosa y se homogeiniza con agitación de 10 hasta 1500 rev/min, a una temperatura de 5 hasta 20 ºC. Dicha solución acuosa tiene un valor de pH de 2 hasta 4,2 y contiene al menos un formador de película soluble en agua y al menos un formador de gel resistente al ácido. La solución o dispersión de shellac se puede emplear en la industria de pinturas y barnices, en la industria alimenticia y en cosméticos.
