Abstract
Procedimiento de eliminación de arsénico, selenio y teluro a partir de concentrados minerales, preferentemente de cobre. El concentrado es tratado en un medio alcalino oxidante de hipoclorito sódico. El procedimiento se lleva a cabo a temperatura ambiente bajo concentraciones de reactivos no superiores a 0,7 M, a pH 12-13, y durante un periodo inferior a una hora. Ocurre así una lixiviación selectiva en la que los minerales arsenicales de Cu, como la enargita, la luzonita y/o la tennantita, son transformados en óxidos de Cu, y el As pasa a la solución junto al Se y el Te, desde donde son precipitados. Sin embargo, los minerales de Cu mayoritarios en el concentrado (calcopirita, bornita o calcosina) permanecen inertes o muy poco atacados. El procedimiento resulta útil para aumentar el valor de los concentrados y reducir la contaminación en sus procesamientos.
