Abstract
Modulador de fase electroóptico autooscilante. La presente invención se refiere a moduladores ópticos de fase formados por un dieléctrico con propiedades electroópticas (1) por el que viaja, usualmente confinada en una guía (2), una señal luminosa sometida a la acción de un electrodo (3) de material metálico mediante el que se aplica al dieléctrico una señal eléctrica a frecuencias de microondas, que modifica el índice de refracción óptico del dieléctrico y consecuentemente la fase de la señal óptica. Las modulaciones de fase sinusoidales a frecuencias ópticas son útiles en numerosas aplicaciones en las que hasta ahora el dispositivo oscilador y el modulador óptico constituyen circuitos independientes. En la presente invención, el electrodo del dispositivo modulador forma parte del circuito de inestabilización de un elemento activo (4) igualmente integrado sobre el sustrato electroóptico, lo que proporciona en el electrodo la característica oscilatoria a frecuencias de microondas en un único dispositivo oscilador+modulador compacto, fiable, sencillo y eficiente.
