Abstract

Engine with variable capacity combustion chambers.An internal combustion engine in which each point of combustion consists of two cylinders inside which two pistons move which are connected to the crankshaft by corresponding rods.These pistons are driven in each cycle by the pressure exerted by the combustion of the air-fuel mixture which the piston in the pre-compression cylinder has drawn in and induced into the compression cylinder whose piston compresses the gases until combustion, work being done by expansion of the gases.With a supercharged system which introduces a quantity of air proportional to the quantity of fuel induced during acceleration, in order that the mixture is always suitable, and that the combustion chamber is always correct, an expansion mechanism is provided by which the capacity of the combustion chamber is increased or reduced.
