EL NUMERO DE COPIAS SE INCREMENTA PREFERENTEMENTE AL TRANSFORMAR LAS PLANTAS CON UNA MOLECULA DE ADN RECOMBINANTE QUE COMPRENDE UN VECTOR UNIDO OPERATIVAMENTE A UN SEGMENTO DE ADN EXOGENO QUE CODIFICA UN POLIPEPTIDO CON ACTIVIDAD DE REDUCTASA HMG-COA, Y UN PROMOTOR APROPIADO PARA DIRIGIR LA EXPRESION DE TAL POLIPEPTIDO.
