Abstract

A spirally wound corrugated tube manufacturing mill has interior and exterior strip joining rolls (4, 5) with diametrically opposite shoulder regions for defining a rectangular deformation space. A mill for corrugated tube manufacture by spiral winding of longitudinally corrugated strip comprises: (a) an exterior strip joining roll (5) with a corrugation profile matching that of the strip (6); and (b) an interior strip joining roll (4) with a corrugation profile larger than that of the strip, the corrugation peaks having the same curvature radius as the strip corrugations, and the corrugation valleys having a slightly greater curvature radius than the strip corrugations. In the region of the corrugations to be strip joined and deformed, the two rolls have diametrically opposite shoulder regions forming an intermediate rectangular deformation space.
