Abstract
1533466 Tube plate joints DES USINES CHAUSSON SA 10 June 1976 [18 July 1975] 24032/76 Addition to 1482142 Heading F2G [Also in Division F4] A modification of the radiator claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1,482,142, comprises using tubes 1 of quasi-rectangular cross-section each with a reinforcement member 18 disposed at each end of the tube and extending along inside the tube for a distance corresponding at least to that portion of the tube length, which on assembly is positioned within one of the tubular sleeves 13 of the one-piece flexible gasket covering the wall (e.g. 3) of the header to which the tubes are attached. Instead of the tapered bore shown, each sleeve 13 may have a parallel bore. The reinforcement member 18 is shown as a corrugated strip but may alternatively consist of a tubular sleeve (19, Figs. 3 and 4) moulded of metal or or plastics material the sleeve having strengthening cross ribs (18a) integral therewith. In transverse cross-section the quasi rectangular tubes may be rectangular with rounded corners or may have rounded or planar ends and planar or slightly arcuate sides. Fins extending between adjacent tubes may comprise plate fins 2, 2a or corrugated strips (22a, Fig. 5) in which are louvres (23), and a plate (24) which on assembly bears on and slightly distorts the last corrugation of the strips.
